I have spent more than a month on this theme. Initially I was interested because it was a kind of music I did not listen much for or to. But as I investigated the influences in music…I followed Robert Plant down a rabbit hole. Standing right next to him in a white rabbit suit was Herself, Janis Joplin. I realized that this Journey was far closer to home. Heart’s first hit was considered to be a kind of homage to Led Zeppelin…and from Heart…the road was easy. When we live for love. All roads lead home.
The conversation between music, voices, persons, takes place over time and many miles and many songs. We live in a time when music seems to be used for everything except listening. Quietly sitting alone with your record and listening. I like to imagine I am sitting on a horse out in a prairie somewhere, waiting for the cows to come home. I can wait a long, long time. I’ve got music to keep me company and, shoot, I got spurs that jingle jangle jingle.
