My brother who is in his 50s saw Paul for the first time a few years ago. He called me after the show to tell me he was surprised how emotional he was during the concert and then he remembered something. When he was a child growing up with violence and abuse, he used to fall asleep with a tape player under his pillow and often he was playing Paul's music because it brought him so much comfort.
I love this cover. I have seen him before in concert and we’ll see him this summer at Wolf trap. I love his work. And this one is a beautiful song. I believe it was born around the same time I was 65 …. You really did it justice. Hope you head back to DC soon. We love coming out to see you.

Thank you Rickie. You’re thoughts after are as beautiful and as important as your rendition. Love love love. 🧡
Beautiful. Thank you. Thinking about America and that song he wrote about it. A very different time.
Looks like America was originally the B side of the For Emily single, but then was switched to the A side after charting. Wikipedia trivia!

Thanks, Rickie Lee. What a lovely rendition and such a treat on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Georgia.
